@ luz
Yes, you can actually practice writing by having an article marketing schedule.

@ Chetan
It can be successful for blogs as well. Try to target long tail keywords like what are you doing for niche sites and you should be getting targeted traffic as well.

@ Jon Marks
The other round will be better. Like what Louis has pointed out, you are trying to bait the traffic to your blog, not from your blog to the directory. Even this is the case, you will find me giving tips on how you can properly promote your articles on the directories so that the impact can be better.

@ Louis
50 articles is a great effort I should say for a blogger. Well, for me, the traffic from article marketing takes time to grow but the quality tends to be better and provide visitors for longer term compared to social media traffic which is the whole blogosphere buzz is about today. :-)

@ John:
I would say write a shorter version and then point it to your site. Your purpose is to increase traffic and awareness for your site, right?

My own experience, I have about 50 articles on article directories. But they don't even get to my top 15 referring sites yet. So, I'm agree on what Wayne's said. It took a lot of effort to make article marketing works for your site. But once you get them running, they'll be permanently donating traffic to your site.

I was considering writing articles and then posting shorter versions of the article in my blog and linking to the full article directly. In your opinion is that worth it or should I only be doing it the other way around - meaning pointing to my site from the directory?
