Predicting With A Crystal Ball

If you have been on the blogosphere long enough, you should have came across many articles which are predicting, meaning that the author of the article himself doesn’t know what will be the outcome and he is just trying to extrapolate something. The best example will be the reasons why Google is demoting the Page Rank of some sites last month. Today, we will see how a prediction post can be a traffic booster or will just become a lame post.

You must be able to think far ahead than others to write up a prediction post. Upon planning a prediction post, you must be thinking far ahead than what others are thinking and be creative enough. A sufficient knowledge about what you will be predicting is vital.

A prediction post can be a wonderful linkbait and traffic builder if you can put out something that is unthinkable by others. Oppositely, if your predictions make up a lousy post, you might be losing your visitors because you are just lame or maybe when the facts is out, you might be contradicting yourself.

Characteristics of a Great Prediction Post

  • Creativity. I know this is a tough one but if you don’t have it, just write your posts based on what you are seeing things. Predictions need creativity because you are just telling people what you think based on your own thoughts. This is why you need creativity to make people trust what you are trying to convey. A trick as complicated as a Photoshop editing to photos or a simple joke will make people look at your predictions.
  • Uniqueness. It will be better if your predictions are either not yet predicted by others or your predictions is different from others. I know uniqueness will pose a risk to you. What if your contents are being countered by someone with more authority than you? What if you have predicted the wrong thing? If you are scared about it, why are you planning a prediction post in the first place?

If you have decided to do it, just do it. If you are wrong, just admit and get over it by explaining that it is just a prediction and if you are countered by someone in authority, you should be really happy because that will send you a lot of traffic!

  • Thorough Research. You can’t be guessing and predicting based on nothing. You will need current facts and trends to show your readers that the outcome might be as what as you have predicted. If your predictions are not supported and contained a lot of flaws, it will be equivalent to a low quality post which will not be tr. Go deep into what you are researching. It will be worth it if the prediction is being endorsed by other bloggers and in turn getting links for your blog.

A good prediction post is not like predicting an outcome of a football match. You will be having a range of outcome which is possible unless you are blogging on some simple issues. This shows how hard it is.

Also, a blog cannot be having a series of prediction posts unless the blogger is living in the future or they just don’t like the current situation. A prediction post once in a while can be great in traffic building but if you frequently come out with “some hit, some don’t” predictions, you will be losing your credibility fast.

Did you predict something with your blog before? What is the outcome of your predictions? Will you think of fooling around with a prediction post when you face a blogger block next time? prediction to betting isn’t actually that easy……. most of the time you did lose enough money before winning once in a lifetime…. and that is not even enough to cover what you lost…. or something like that…

I call these speculation posts and in the main, I dislike them. I get irritated when everyone and his dog voices his opinion on what is going to happen about XYZ. usually it’s nothing but unfounded opinion and is just a time waster.

I much prefer to wait until after the event and then report on the facts.

Another point is that, we should not make predictions too often and too frequent. Otherwise, people will just say that we are doing it for the sake of getting the fame.

    @ Edward
    Are you sure?

    @ Michael Woo
If the sky ever rains gold, we will die and many buildings will be spoilt because gold is hard an heavy.

If I think economically, if the sky rains gold, it will be nothing any more since there will be a lot of gold.

    Yes, I WIN!

    @ kljs
This is why I don’t bet. It sucks! There is so many easy ways to make money and many are still hoping for the windfall.

    @ Caroline
Some people like it but some don’t. The recent Google Page Rank fiasco has shown that every creative speculation can spark a debate and opinion boom. As a blogger, these posts are absolutely great for linkbaiting and traffic building.

    @ Zul
One more thing I will say about these people is that they don’t know nothing but guessing.

You don’t predict your upcoming posts, what I mean here is predicting some events which is not happening yet.
