The first Google Page Rank for Wayne Liew Dot Com update has come. Did it catch you unexpected? If you still don’t know about this news, check it out now with Google Page Rank checker.

Are you prepared? Most of us are eager for this but when it finally comes, we are all scrambled and panicked! Most of the blogs out there are being penalized and most of the deductions of PR are done to blogs with PR4 and 5, some 6 but Sabahan pointed out in his post, “Latest Google PageRank Update - How Are You Doing?”, PR7 blogs are always above the Google strike on blogs.
The update this time has totally made those prediction tools out there worthless. I guess Google is no longer using backlinks and the value of sites that are pointing to your blog or maybe they have raise the standards for some rank of PR. I am still finding out what can we do to help raising our PR but there were rumours out there stating that Google is penalizing those blogs who sell links and write paid posts.
“Google is penalizing those monetizing their PR, which includes link selling and writing paid posts.”
This might be true as my Simple Life of YP which have been my money making den, has been penalised by only having a PR4 now. I don’t expect it to drop to just 4 because I think most of the links have been rediredcted to my brand new Wayne Liew Dot Com!
The worst for me is that most of the new blogs like this of mine is still at the N/A status and some new big time blogger like John Cow still have his PR at 0. New bloggers out there, what PR are you at right now?
If your PR still doesn’t change, I guess you should give it some time, maybe a week or so since there are billions or trillions of sites out there. I have every reason to believe that my WayneLiew.com’s will rise as most of the links has been pointing to Wayne Liew Dot Com. I don’t care, Google will not abandon new blogs just like this! I will appeal for all new blogs!
I first thought that this might be a Google PR jump but everything seems to be very real as most of the webmaster forums are heated with the discussion. What PR have you got on your blog now? I guess mine has not being updated yet, stay tune for a post if anything happens to my PR status.
Any rants on your PR drop and any boasting about your PR rise? For those who thought that their PR must change, are you anxious like me? I want to take off from N/A!

I hope so… PR3 didn’t get harassed by Google as far as I know, most of them are PR4 and 5 blogs and they seem to be not giving attention to new blogs like mine yet!
October 6th, 2007 at 6:52 pm
I am not worried at all… there’s no way my PR 0 can drop further, haha!!
Thanks Shifu Liew!
Anyway, I would like to ask you about SEO. I read about it, agak-agak knows what it’s about, but I am totally clueless of how to make use of it. Mind explain a bit? Can send me e-mail if you want.
October 6th, 2007 at 6:58 pm
I don’t even have a PR! How can I live? I can tell you more about it. Anyway, e-mail has been despatched to your mail box! Efficient!
October 6th, 2007 at 7:15 pm
I used to be worried about my PR but now I don’t. I figured (since I stopped writing sponsored posts) that content is still king, regardless of whether Google thinks so, LOL.
October 6th, 2007 at 7:30 pm
Give me PR8! Wahahaha…

@ pelf
Nothing happened to your PR5. I want at least something for my blog, at least not PR N/A!
@ Neo
You are so great! PR6! Looks like the demotion for writing sponsored posts is not true.
@ Sean
I am not demanding much as well. Why Google treat me this way!
@ lukxiufung
Yes, updated and is 0. I know that it hurts but I am still trying to figure out what actually happened.
@ Vedis
PR3 also got penalised? Hmm…
@ AceOne118
You are really lucky, I am hurt…
@ keeyit
Maybe I should have the attitude like you as well…
October 7th, 2007 at 11:11 am

everyone keep up!
October 7th, 2007 at 11:28 am
You don’t write paid posts right?
October 7th, 2007 at 11:30 am
But I am wondering how Google going to trace if bloggers wrote paid post in the blog. There are trillion of blogs in the world~!
However, I saw some blogs already upgrade their PR, so envy… hahah!!
October 7th, 2007 at 12:16 pm
Easy, those who labelled the posts as “Sponsored”, “Paid” and so on… I don’t deny that they might get your blog information from paid posts platform as well but I am not qualified to speculate.
I need facts.
October 7th, 2007 at 1:41 pm
Good luck with your PR. You have a good blog, hope you will get at least PR3 or PR4.
October 7th, 2007 at 2:35 pm
Maybe you should not use PPP for higher PR after all. If you can make your blog really popular, you could get advertisers to come to you directly(you could earn double as PPP takes 50%), all this with a high PR.
Right now don’t worry about PR. Maybe your URL is too new and cannot get a PR just right now, thats why N/A and not 0.
October 7th, 2007 at 2:49 pm
Thanks for visiting, Maria. I hope I can get around that number as well.

@ Derek Cordeiro
Thanks for the advice. Now, I will not care about it and focus on my contents. PPP is not my main platform by the way.
October 7th, 2007 at 5:58 pm
My new blog still have a N/A ranking. Zzz…
October 8th, 2007 at 12:14 am
To Wayne, i dun write paid posts
October 8th, 2007 at 2:30 am
Couldn’t be bothered about PR.
People who bother about PR are usually those who make $$$ based on PR.
Focus on content people, focus on content.
October 8th, 2007 at 12:41 pm
I frequently see backlink updates on Google Webmaster Tools, but PR seems to be not coming.. I am still PR0 (PR4 before I changed domain)
October 8th, 2007 at 3:34 pm
all over now are talking about this PR…..yups godfries content maybe come first but the PR also important..
October 8th, 2007 at 5:14 pm
@ yung .
Let’s work towards it together!
@ jayhan
I think if that is comfortable for you, you should continue as it is good not to write paid posts.
@ goldfries
Yes, many out there made money out of PR. I can’t deny that contents is the most important thing about a blog but your rankings like PR and Alexa helps to measure your blog.
@ Jalaj
Same as me. I even got a PR5 before this with a blogspot blog. Maybe the rules are a little different with self-hosted domains, we should work harder from now on!
dott-com
Pure PR will come together with good contents. In conclusion, contents is still the most important element.
October 8th, 2007 at 8:30 pm
PR and Alexa rankings shows their own measure of ranking and that’s it, it’s not an absolute measurement.
Some advertisers look at PR, some look at Alexa, others look at both.
While statistically speaking they’re not as good as Analytics or even your server stats, they’re still important for monetization purpose.
If you’re not so much into monetization, just don’t bother (too much) about it.
October 8th, 2007 at 8:38 pm
Yes, I am considering about abandoning my old blogspot blog as I don’t want to write just to earn. I have heard of RSS subscribers are being monitored now.
For me, using a RSS subscribers amount will be a good measurement since it will be more related to contents. Do you think so, goldfries?
Anyway, I still need some experts like you to visit my site.
October 8th, 2007 at 10:12 pm
I m still 0 for my new domain. But for old blogs, still remain 2.. I want higher PR~
October 8th, 2007 at 11:26 pm
Now u come to my blog and give me tips how I can improve my PR.
Trima kasi.
October 9th, 2007 at 12:18 am
RSS is just a means of getting content to you instead of you to the content.
RSS being measurement of content? Yes, but it could also just mean that you have readers that know how to use RSS.
I get a few hundred visitors per day and my RSS subscribers are like <10. Some how I find Malaysian users are still slow on using RSS. I’ve seen good sites with minimal subscribers.
October 9th, 2007 at 8:17 am
@ cbenc12
I found another gang member. Let’s work together towards it.
@ Kitkat
I am serious, really…
Why not you give me an account for me to guest post?
@ goldfries
Agreed but with more and more Internet-savvy people, I guess the number of users will improve. I use RSS Reader but I don’t subscribe to every blog I read.
October 12th, 2007 at 4:59 pm
Yes I feel as a wordpress.com subdomain I was getting benefit of domain age (same with blogspot.com) and now new domain may bring down the PR.
October 12th, 2007 at 5:26 pm
This is why but if we break the barrier, we can soar real high!
October 19th, 2007 at 9:38 pm
Hi,
Is it still in process of updating or PR update completed ? Coz my one is first update, I still see PR0.
Regards
Raj
