I got this e-mail from Alex who gave the second smack on my face after I got to know that EON Bank MOL Freedom Prepaid Credit Card can be used to withdraw PayPal funds but in the mail I received from him just now suggested that MOL Freedom is not that good or even worse than the AmBank NexG card I am using right now.
In the mail, what I said previously after coder commented radically that the support that was being offered on MOL Freedom is not good is being stated by Alex after he contacted EON Bank to seek solution for the failure to withdraw PayPal funds with his card. Read me well, this means that EON Bank MOL Freedom Prepaid Credit Card is now in the list of unusable cards to withdraw PayPal funds.
This incident confirms that only cards with the Visa logo, which includes Al-Radjhi Debit Card and Public Bank Electron Debit Card can be used in withdrawing PayPal funds as pointed out by Sabahan in his posts, “Malaysian Can Now Withdraw Money from their PayPal Accounts”. For those who is having a list of usable cards to use in withdrawing PayPal funds must now update your users about this.
Alex’s encounter doesn’t just stop here.
Alex, through the e-mail he sent me, also pointed out that his card has now been frozen because receiving funds internationally is against the card’s policy and the worse is that he was suspected with MONEY LAUNDERING! He will now need to write an appeal letter to EON Bank. I think I made a mistake for blasting AmBank and crying for an explanation from them in my post, “PayPal Dreams Broken! Now What?”. Luckily for me, PayPal stopped me from using the card or I could have been going through what Alex is going through right now.
I am not being sarcastic to Alex but he himself recommends people not to use MOL Freedom Card in a joking way. I was relieved and for your knowledge, I nearly signed up for MOL Freedom after I thought AmBank NexG had disappointed me. Now, I am all smiles again, thanks to some reader who asked patience from me. All Visa now except for cards by United Oversea Bank (UOB) for PayPal withdrawals but I am sure that sooner or later, Mastercards can be used.
For prepaid credit cards users like MOL Freedom and AmBank NexG users, even after cards with the Mastercard logo can be used in PayPal withdrawals, I advised you to contact your bank about this before doing your withdrawals of PayPal funds regarding their POLICY first! ![]()

if receiving fund from over and it’s not exceeding the threshold…then it’s okay
this is policy of the bank..
nothing to do with AMLA…anti money laundering act…
i mean from the sending side…but it’s possible frozen because he receive fund from unknown source and the transaction took place in large amount…
this will trigger the bank AMLA system..
i am mot bullshitting here…i build banking system and my senior build the Western Union application here

@ kucau
Alex was just suspected, there is no any big deal, just yet though. Anyway, I hope he will be all right.
@ thiamhin
Your situation here is correct but if the bank is freezing our accounts, nothing can be done but appeal or wait for the results. As long as we are not committing any crimes here, we don’t need to be scared.
Moreover, according to the current situation, it will be abnormal if MOL Freedom is capable of withdrawing PayPal funds.
@ KitKat
There have been no claims that it can’t be used. Try it, it is supposed to be OK but if it is not, you won’t get any harm though because you are not using a Mastercard.

wayne , called up BNM today. they expalin regarding the laundering act . its up to the bank on how to intepret order by BNM. some bank maybe strict. they say, maybe public bank is not so strict but maybank is, thats why public back debit card was accepted, it had nothing to do with debit card or credit card

Wayne, my Citibank VISA credit card works! My funds are already in my cc account within 4 days, I’m happy as a hyena! I noted this to Gaman, and blogged about it.
So good news for Citibank CC holders, but I’m still waiting for news on the debit card side.

Bank Islam Card, MBF Cards, Eon Bank Card….can use or not?
October 8th, 2007 at 5:23 pm
If the card bears a Visa logo, it can be used. I get to know that EON Bank Visa Credit Card can be used. The rest is for you to try out. If it can’t be used, PayPal will just stop you from withdrawing, no harm will be done.
