Many asked me why didn’t I have a Google Adsense ad panel here, I guessed it was time for me to make a confession. The date I got banned by the super money maker, Google Adsense was last year, when I started out blogging as a 16 years old kid. At that time, I don’t know how superior Google is and I got caught up with seeing my earnings blasted to over $20 a day, by clicking on my ads (I know it’s stupid, this is why I warned people through “Don’t Click On Your Own Ads”. I violated two of their term and conditions, not being 18 and invalid clicks.

At that time, after I got banned, I didn’t do anything as I haven’t wake up from my sweet dreams that Google Adsense is really a great income source for some until I started to go a little bit deeper into blogging. With my old blogspot blog, I tried to blog for traffic and do a few search engine optimisation work onto that blog but all and all, not having a Google Adsense account amputated my blogging income. Now, I am here with my own domain and I am serious about blogging. The deepest regrets is that my visitors can’t make any Google Adwords users pay because I am banned by Google Adsense!
I am now having a more targeted content and I even received an e-mail from Kontera which says that my site is showing some highly-paid keywords (with no one clicking
). This is like a knife which penetrates my heart as there’s no other advertising platforms which have a contextual technology as good as Google Adsense.
But actually, I don’t feel that bad after all because of the following reasons:
- Paid Posts - As I said in my post “Paid Posts - My Main Income Source”, my biggest income source is from writing reviews for products and sites and I guess if I am still writing with the frequency I used to have, I am earning better than many who had not been banned by Google Adsense but don’t know how to optimise it.
- Other alternatives - There’s a whole lot more ways other than blogging that can earn you good money. Currently, I am learning Internet marketing and hopefully in a few months time, I can have a few more domains for my empire of sites but you certainly will not see a evil splogging way of making money coming out of my hands.
- Less Dependence On Google - Without Google Adsense, the tools I am using under Google for my Internet productivity is is being lowered a lot as I can see so many rants out there whenever Google took a move which is against their users.
- More experiments - With Google Adsense out of my list of monetisation methods, I am always open to any other monetisation methods such as Bidvertiser and AdBrite which I am using now. If I discover anything new on the Internet, I can test it out immediately and test it out different ways of ad placement because I can just take my panels down without much restrictions.
- Lesser rules to follow - I don’t like to being bounded by terms and conditions. I know this must be at a suitable level but Google is one of the company that looks seriously at their policy, which PayPerPost is as well. Having the chance to drop them keeps be away from a set of tight rules.

If you ask me is it so bad to be banned by Google Adsense, I think it is not a scenario that worth a departure from the blogosphere but to me, Google Adsense is still one of the best advertising platforms around. If you are banned like me and it is not a mistake, it is useless begging them with tonnes of e-mails, just stop whining and move on. I am still here though. It’s not that bad…
For those who haven’t got the ban, abide by the tight rules!

Hahaha… YES! We’re banned by Google! Hahaha… Damn it I so hate Google, as if they are God or something. Many of my friends got banned and many didn’t even click their own ad but also got banned, everytime when almost reach the cash out amount. SUCKS! I don’t think it’s even a good way to earn money from it, it took me almost 2 years to reach USD100 and when almost time to get my cheque they banned me! Talking about earning fast with Adsense, maybe it works for those very high traffic sites but for small fish like me that patiently waited for my earnings, they won’t care at all. Even not making few cents per day. I don’t even care a shit about Adsense or Adword anymore. I would rather write paid posts and earn 100X as fast as putting those annoying chunck of words in my site.
October 18th, 2007 at 8:59 pm
Adsense is only for high traffic blogs, so unless it’s a commercial blog or else it would be hard to earn money from Adsense
October 19th, 2007 at 12:00 am
I just met someone, some idiot that says, I always click on my ad but why I still earn so little. I just fed up chating with them. Did you email Google when will they UNBAN you?
October 19th, 2007 at 2:58 am
for those who has been banned, you can try to use your relative name with different address to apply it again. And most importantly, learn how to prevent your website to be banned. you can learn it from here. : http://www.chinese.net.my/newwebsite/?p=28
hope it help.
October 19th, 2007 at 11:03 am
i’m also being banned…
October 19th, 2007 at 2:48 pm
Google adsense is not making a single cent for me… it doesn’t ban me, but I’m going to ban it!
October 19th, 2007 at 4:23 pm
Just would like to ask, how Google considered my blog is banned on how many clicked by my own self on my blog?
You know we may accidentally click on it la.. right ? common sense ma..
October 19th, 2007 at 5:14 pm
I put google adsense for 2 months in my blog, I earned USD5+…
I never think thought it would contributes any part of my income…
October 19th, 2007 at 5:17 pm
Keeyit, one click should be enough to get u banned… Google is very serious about that, u may send an email to explain but chances are slim..
October 19th, 2007 at 5:46 pm
@ yung .
What is the reason you got banned? Not being 18 or clicking your own ads?
@ Jalaj
Thanks but I don’t think think I am that impressive, there’s some kiddo at the age of just 13 and making $1000 out from the Internet. I am nothing compared to them.
@ Irene
Your comment left me with doubts that Google Adsense is clearing out those sites with low traffic. I wonder… Anyway, I will build up a string site and make more without Adsense!
@ Edward
)
It’s true but personal blogs sometimes earn from love clicks as well. I guess personal blogs can make better money through direct ad sales or link trading (banned by Google, Google again?
@ Nicholas
They thought earning money by placing ads is easy, this is actually what I thought about that time. What for? I am stupid and naive that time, I am wrong! I can’t just tell them I am below 18 and I don’t know Google is that great right?
@ chinese guy
Many you still don’t know me, I love all my money directed to me and under my name.
@ LeeChien
It’s not a big deal after all. You can see so much people is already being banned if you continue to blog.
@ Valen
Yeah, a supporter! Ban Google Adsense!
@ keeyit
As far as I am concern, one click or two won’t makes much difference but if the time the click is generated is almost the same, it will create curiosity for their staffs.
For your knowledge, Google Adsense actually assign staffs to monitor clicks manually. They are great with their own technology, you can’t really run if you are at fault.
@ Sean
I am one of your contributors, that’s why…
@ Edward
Sending an e-mail to a notorious company like Google will get a reply like “We have monitored the whole situation but the reason you got a ban can’t be disclosed due to the discretion of technology we’ve used. Anyway, we reserve the right to ban a publisher’s account!”
Arrogant right? Remove their panels from your blog and join me!
October 19th, 2007 at 6:00 pm
ooOOo that why you don’t have adsense ads…not a big deal becoz you can monetize it with other ads.
October 19th, 2007 at 6:15 pm
Yes, you should believe that, as it acts as inspiration for growth.
And yes it’s matter of comparision. You are nothing if you compare yourselves to “that kid” and “impressive” when I compare you to many other kids. It might also be due to geographical differences, as in some countries a teen learns to earn pocketmoney by working in holidays whereas in some places a people take more time to grow in terms of financial independance.
My best wishes for all your present and future endeavors
October 19th, 2007 at 6:28 pm
@keeyit
Yes we may… but accidents when repeated turns into intentional clicks… If it was a few years back when you used dial up connections you might have prevented getting yourself noticed but with fixed IP broadband connections… you cannot..
@Irene
It’s shocking it it happens so…

Thanks for the support and help replying to my readers.

Wayne, you said that you have been banned last year when you had 16 years old and read in your about that you have 17 years old. I am sure that when you turn 18 years old (which you can agree with adsense agreement) you will have your second chance with this blog
October 20th, 2007 at 10:00 am
But I was caught with invalid clicks that time as well. I doubt they will let me in any more though. Anyway, I will give it a try by that time.
October 20th, 2007 at 1:30 pm
Hi Wayne,
Just curious, is this ban a “life sentence”? is there any 2nd chance? Seems a little harsh for punishment.
October 20th, 2007 at 1:44 pm
Hi Lawrence,
This ban is a lifetime punishment which is already stated in the policy of Google Adsense. Even if it is harsh or not, Google will not give you face unless you develop a search engine which is better than them or an algorithm that they admire!
October 21st, 2007 at 9:04 pm
Google Adsense is superior to other ad networks because of their technology and large pool of advertisers. Thus, it can be highly-targeted not only in terms of keywords but also geolocation. I realise this because I always get ads from Malaysian advertisers when I’m surfing to various sites that use Adsense. Thus, it is still the major money maker in contextual advertising for bloggers. Anyway, I didn’t get banned because I’ve yet to join them.
October 22nd, 2007 at 9:27 am
Thanks for the info Wayne.
Phew… really tough punishment. Guess it pays (literally) to be “good boy” in this case.
October 22nd, 2007 at 5:01 pm
@ Ginn Wei
You should start monetising your blog with them, Nuffnang is not performing for me. Do you know that entertainment is a great niche?
@ Lawrence Cheok
Be a nice boy, don’t mix with those who got banned…
(Just kidding…)
Yes, but I am not regretting it!
November 15th, 2007 at 10:16 am
The ban can’t be forever right?
Why don’t you reapply to Google?
November 15th, 2007 at 11:03 am
No big deal la.
Look at John Chow, earniner USD20k+ through his blog and he’s not even using Google Adsense.
On my side, Adsense is not my blog income earner.
Maybe later on but definitely not now, it’s not even on the 2nd spot.
November 21st, 2007 at 1:15 pm
Google still nice with me ko…
January 15th, 2008 at 3:11 pm
Hi,
I have a website with lot of traffic and good ranking. They disabled my account for no reason (I really mean it) on the day I reached $1000 for the month (December, 2007). . I received my last month payment of $500 but I am unable to encash it. I was really shocked. Do you think that they will refund all these money including my last month earnings back to advertisers. It is “NO”. Thae are really gaining more by banning accounts GOOGLE SUCKS…They will rip off your money by the month end at unexpected time. I am currently using paid links from Linkworth($100 per link per month) and Textlinkads. No clicks required. Yahoo publisher is good. Pays more than Google. Microsoft is also coming out with “Adcenter”. So watch out..Google will be having lot of competition this year. Never use their F*** search. Use Yahoo Search. Remove their toobar if any. That is how we can retaliate. Remember Google is not the only alternative. See how John Chow makes millions from his blog without Google. Yahoo and Microsoft will give Google a run for their money, so it will mean less Google accounts disabled in future…Goodbye “Google The Ripper”..
January 16th, 2008 at 5:19 pm
Peter,
Yes, I would agree in you that we can survive without Google. Google is getting more and more notorious on the web. Like what you have said, try to use Yahoo’s search engine instead of Google’s.
Anyway, I am glad to see that you are doing well with other monetization methods. You also prove that if your site or blog has good stats in terms of traffic, you will be able to make money with it no matter what.
Great job on surviving without Google!

ok thanks all to this helpfull comments
i am not yet banned from google but i recieved email today that was a kind of warning that is telling me about invalid clicks
i never clickecd for my self at any of my site but i dont realy care if they banned me then maybe they do that all the time so they can take your money and the will never reply to ur emails but just wonder if the clciks are coming from google custom search engine and that is the only way i am making 3 or 4 usd per day so i guess there must be some one uses my google custon searche ngine everyday and that is not my fault my ip address never changed i never clicked fro my self maybe the first day i started adsen i made 2 or 3 clciks for testing other then that they dont have no reason to bann me i dont even use the custon search engine i have in my site so what the hell they mean invalid clicks and how can they proov that unless this is there game of many making by bann ppl and not paying you for what you have earned
so my question here is am i geting banned from google and what about the payment i earned and can any body sue them?
thanks for reading all this.
July 24th, 2008 at 2:32 am
Ade,
If you’re banned, the only thing you can do is to appeal. You can’t sue them even if they forfeit all your earnings simply because you’ve agreed to their T&C when you applied.
July 30th, 2008 at 1:22 am
SO WHAT IS THE POINT OF THIS BUSINESS
THEY ARE THE POLICE THEY ARE THE JUDGE AND THEY ARE THE LAW.
ANY WAY I AM GLAD I AM NOT BANNED AT THE MOMENT I JUST GOT WARNING OF INVALID CLICKS LIKE VERY BODY BUT I WONDER WHERE THESE CLICKS CAME FROM.
ANY HELP WILL BE HELPFULL I
THYANKS FOR THE REPLY GINN
