Paid Posts – My Main Income Source

by Wayne Liew on September 24, 2007

I always tell people making money online is easy but how easy is that? Let me tell you my own experience which makes what am I today. I started blogging with nothing but a free host, the famous Blogger (I still love it). I kept on blogging on it, tried different search engine optimization methods and many monetization ways. One thing that I couldn’t forget is how I got to know paid posts or more widely known as sponsored posts. I am a lucky boy, I don’t know how I became friends with Google and my blog got a PR5 last time.

With a PR5 blog, you know what I can do? I can make myself money enough to host a blog myself. Is this a small number? Definitely not. I am now making MYR2000+ per month (only MYR500 lower than an accountant’s starting pay), which is equivalent to USD583 per month and for a college kid with nothing to do but blogging, this is a lot! There are many Malaysians out there earning up to MYR10,000+ from paid posts like Aunty Lilian and gang, which I admire.

My reason to self-host my blog is to get respect from everyone, including advertisers. Advertisers is so picky nowadays until they say have the trend of arrogantly highlighting “You don’t own a domain? Get lost!”. I wonder why they don’t like free host. My self-made explanation is that advertisers want to know if you are serious about blogging, if you are serious about it, get yourself a domain. Those with free domain feel like flaming me right? Wait, then what are the reasons advertisers don’t like free-hosted blogs?

Did you see any sponsored posts around Wayne Liew Dot Com yet? No right? This is because it is still in the 90 days probation period and thus only my “if-you-know-then-you’ll-know” blog is having paid posts, low pay high pay all in! I am making tonnes of money with it now and I am not enough! I want to prove to those who wanted easy money to see how easy blogging for money is!

I am sure many is trying, dig hard and keep doing it. Google PR update is just around the corner (it’s late this time round because Google is doing some minor alterations to its algorithm), see my PR go up (I don’t know how backlinks will help with Google algorithm change) and advertiser will pay me for their own respect! :-P

I am always on the middle road when people talk about the pros and cons of writing paid posts. When people say, writing is not good, betraying your readers, betraying yourself yadaa yadaa… I feel like supporting but they pay me the most! What can I do? When people say “Yeah, lets write and write and write!”, I am thinking “Will readers get pissed off?”. Where should I fall? Your views on paid post please! Do you write and how much you have earned? More than me? :-P

  • Which exactly are your paid post mate?
  • The paid posts are no longer on this blog and I have stopped writing paid posts long ago since I started doing affiliate marketing.
  • PR3 can earn quite good with paid posts but you must be careful not to overwrite as Google is serious is cracking down such activities.
  • I also want to write paid post for other blogs. My blog has PR3.
  • You want to learn tips from someone who has been banned from AdSense? Anyway, $60 per month is great and of course, if you put in more effort, the number will multiply.

    All the best!
  • Wow so bad you've banned from Adsense !
I'm blogging since 8 months and I'm now making "only" 60$ per month but it was just for learning the process. I now feel I can duplicate this multiple times.

I hope to learn tips from you :)
  • Sponsored Reviews being my biggest earner. I got one direct ad sales as well. Visit my Advertise page to know more.
  • Are you gaining this income by programs like payperpost( if yes , please tell us which) or by direct ad sales?
  • I think they will not be measuring your site using Page Rank any more. PR4 can be a really good rate now but when I was at PR5, I can get one post paying me as high as $40.
  • Is PayPerPost good? How much does it pay for a PR4 website?
  • Blogging or money is correct and it is not against the law or something. People are advised not to blog for money because the persistence will be at risk if these bloggers didn't earn anything.

We must believe in that product but sometimes the product or web site demand a totally positive review on them which has been seen by some as a bad.
  • blogging for money is entirely okay! as long as you don't spam, as long as what you are writing about is connected to your blog, as long as you believe in the product/website/company you are writing about... no one can tell you that blogging for money is wrong.
  • Be patience dude. If you are writing in this frequency, you will be getting a lot of incoming cash the month after. I can do it, why not you?

To update you, I am now living without PayPerPost!

I think the best is to strike the balance in between your personal post and sponsored post. For me, I am trying to write one for personal and one for sponsor everyday. But, the cash flow is still damn slow!
  • Don't label yourself as idiotic, it is a bad word, moreover, I can learn all this and I have only one brain just like you. Cheers!
  • definitely want to learn from you, still observing the way. hehehe.. Because I'm quite idiotic in I.T. things..
  • I am glad about this. Come back or subscribe to my RSS feed!
