Good point but the relationship between the platforms and publishers like us is mutual.

We will need to give support. As far as I know, Nuffnang is starting to have ads from US and Canada which are quite a good improvement. Advertlets and Nuffnang still have many room to grow.

If there is a lot of publishers, not just Malaysia and Singapore bloggers using Nuffnang and Advertlets, I am sure the advertisers will be impressed by the network that both these platforms cover.

For the ads, I can agree that there is a lack of it but as I said, the coverage of a advertising company needs to huge. They need our support and we need them as well but as always, it's not the "human-relation" that matters when there is money involved.

I'm planning to give Nuffnang and Advertlets a try but it seems that both networks will only appeal to blogs and sites with very low traffic. This is because these blogs and sites can't get into the large foreign networks which require huge traffics and high alexa ranking. We know that Alexa ranking is biased towards webmaster-targeted sites and most of the low-traffic sites are mostly about lifestyle or just personal ramblings.

Another point to note is that, any sites with huge traffics have users mostly outside of Malaysia compared to small blogs. This makes both networks to be less profitable for popular sites like liewcf.com but we all know traffics = money. So, unless both networks started counting users outside of Malaysia and Singapore, they won't be attractive to popular sites. Beside, I've also heard many complaining about the lack of ads...

Just my 2 cents.

Just give it some time and try to build up a larger visitor base, like making me visit your blog (although I visit it everyday :-) )...

<b>@ Timothy Tiah</b>
Hi there, didn't expect your arrival.

I think something is wrong with my broadband or firewall connection then. My page hanged at where Nuffnang panel is the day before I typed this. That is why I am writing this. After that day, everything seems to be fine.

It is a good solution but by the time the ads appear, visitors might had scrolled down or move to another page because some blogs have lots of scripts.

The best will be giving the panels priority to load and they load themselves fast. :-)

<b>@ Clare</b>
 Timothy is just right above you. It's just that his comment is awaiting moderation.

As a publisher, we always want third party scripts added to load faster and faster but it's all up to them. The last thing we want is that they see our comments as whinings which I don't think Timothy will do this...

I like your writings in some way. If your writing style can attract visitors, I don't get it if advertisers shy away. Maybe wait till I have enough funds for my advertising needs, I will not forget about you.

Regarding the loading time, initially, Nuffnang took up most of the time loading and caused the rest of the page to lag. After many complains, they let the page load first before Nuffnang advert. Yes, they load very slowly...I don't know why. Maybe they are using Malaysian hoster? They are still looking into it.

I am not a fan of Timothy, to be frank. Just that I happen to know him personally. I still don't earn that much because I don't get a lot of CPM ads, maybe advertisers don't like my controversial writings(?) LOL :D

Hi Wayne,

Actually our ads don't load slow, they're just designed to load only after the rest of your blog content has loaded so it does not hold up your blog from loading.

(Refer to the announcement we made on 9th July 2007).
http://nuffnang.com.my/blog/?p=91

That's why I'm rather surprised when you say that our ad slows down your blog... it used to before we rebuilt our ad syndication system before 9th July 2007, but now everything loads quickly.

Also, some of our ads are rich media ads, like the Cornetto ads you might see around where the user may no only just click on the ad but can also play an in-built game, interactiing with the ad. So these ads typically take a little longer to load up especially when we want to give priority to the blog's content in terms of loading sequence.

Either ways, thank you very much for your kind words of encouragement and also for pointing out our cons. We're forever on the road to improve.

Thanks.

<b>@ clement</b>
I don't think so. I just don't like pop up ads. If you don't like them, turn off Javascript in your browser, and all the sites you are surfing will be ad-free but of course, this is not recommended by me...

<b>@ conancat</b>
Yes, they do provide me with some little income and this is why they are still shown in my blog. Advertlets uses flash as well but maybe Nuffnang really needs to improve the loading time of their ad (I mean shorten them) :-)

hmm i'm using nuffnang more, but i haven't tried out advertlets seriously myself though... haha. yurp both have their pros and cons, i guess it's just the matter of your own choice. :) personally to me nuffnang has a friendlier outlook to me though, maybe it's the logo hehe...

and yeah, agree that nuffnang had to work on the ads, sometimes they load kinda slow. maybe it's because they're flash/moving images thats why they're slow... i guess i just have to compromise with that :)
