MyBlogLog has just been merged its account services with Yahoo and you will need to either have to create a Yahoo account or merge your existing Yahoo account with MyBlogLog. I knew about this merging right after class when I log on to the blogosphere and guess what, I DON’T LIKE IT AT ALL!
I always don’t like the “merging” of services on the Internet. When Google did the same thing with Blogger last time, I faced some problems merging my accounts because of the different username I used on both of these services. This time I am more diligent on the Internet and the merging of my Yahoo and MyBlogLog is not a headache but something nearly made me hit my keyboard.
After you have successfully merged your account, you will notice that your display avatar will be gone and your name might have been changed to the name you used on Yahoo. What you can do to replace you avatar is that you save the avatar which you see in your profile, then proceed to “Edit Profile”, reupload the saved avatar and change your name there.
I face some problems here because of the waiting, you might encounter processing without any notice but just be patience because it is just the AJAX (page loading without refreshing the page) system in work. Anyone knew a fast way or shortcut on modifying this?

After you have merged with your existing new account or open up a new Yahoo account just for MyBlogLog, you will start to log in to your account using your Yahoo username from now on. I don’t like all this fuss but I guess that after I am used to it, everything should be fine. The site is also laggy maybe this is due to their server transition or stuffs like that but the widget didn’t cause my blog to load slow so it is fine with me.
Tell me what you think about this merging or what I call as takeover. Will it be better that they were separate or it is better when they are combined? Despite all this fuss, I am still sticking to MyBlogLog because many readers of mine came to me through this blogging community and I can say the referral rate from MyBlogLog is high.
Haven’t have a MyBlogLog account, register now and if you already have one, can you do me a favour my joining Wayne Liew Dot Com community? I will appreciate that, I promise.
Edited: Information changed. Yahoo had acquired MyBlogLog in November 2006 and only now they are merging their users’ accounts.

I don’t like it too… The site was down and slow at this moment, maybe due to whatever internal problem. But the thing is… What is Google next move? Facebook?

seems like google and yahoo are trying to eat up as many things as possible to gain dominance…

@ lukxiufung
Yes, I think you will have to bear with it for a while. It is impossible, at least for now for both giants to combine…
@ clement
Yahoo bought MyBlogLog over with USD10 million whereas Google spent USD1.65 billion on YouTube. Astounding huh?
@ wong
What are we using widely now but not under them might be the one they had short-listed. Hmm…
@ pikey
A mistake there, Flickr is under Yahoo but I agree with you that Google is much more aggressive now. Maybe this is due to the fact that they don’t own a multi-purpose portal like Yahoo.
@ aceone118
Why? Doesn’t it bring in any traffic for you?

Apart from reuploading your avatar and change your display name, everything should be all right. Don’t forget about the slow server speed!

@ thiamhin
Yes and I guess Google and Yahoo are the ones that will compete with each other till the end.
@ Derek
I removed them and replaced it with Adbrite because of the CPM ads that Adbrite offers.
@ kucau
Ya and only now they merged the services together. I encountered slow loading speed at MyBlogLog yesterday but not today, hope that it maintained.

Actually I think this acquisition took place quite a while ago, no? I remember I signed up because I heard about it in the news - the news about the acquisition. And I signed up early this year. So as far as I’m concerned, it’s already a done deal - a Yahoo! product, from day one.

Yeah, MyBlogLog has been acquired by Yahoo! quite some time ago, but only roll things out recently.

@ narrowband
I think I messed up with the “acquisition” word in my first paragraph. It took place long ago, now they are just merging users with both Yahoo and MyBlogLog accounts.
Thanks for telling.
@ Vincent Chow
I messed up with words. Amendments shall be done!
Thanks guys!
