Keeping Out Sploggers
As I had promised most of the commentators that commented in my post “Money Making By Splogging” that I will show you all a few things to do when you encounter what I call as sploggers or leechers! These will not happen to a new blog but the longer the time you blog, you will start having these troublemakers.
Why you should get rid of them?
Copyright Issues - You squeezed your brain so hard to produce a post and all these easy money seekers are just copying your contents and publish it to their blogs without much effort placed! Will you be happy with this? If you are happy, I can’t say anything but ask you to read on.
Search Engine Bans - I am sure everyone wants a Google Page Rank and Yahoo Backlinks. These sites are just waiting for their turn to get a ban from the search engines out there since people like me will poke them out. If you didn’t delete the backlinks or pingbacks generated by these blogs in your articles, you are deemed to be linking to them and guess what, linking to a banned site will cause your link popularity to go down!

I guess getting banned is a good reason right? Proceed for ways to go against them.
AntiLeech plugin - I am using a cool and sweet but a little evil plugin, AntiLeech to go against these sploggers. I don’t know how effective it is since it didn’t start showing it’s power yet. You can customise how the content will turn out on the splog.

With this plugin, you can change the the output on the splog with the following options:
- Shows AntiLeech logo
- Links to your blog
- Tweaks and gives a wrong RSS link to them
- Remove any Google Adsense ad panels embedded in their copycat posts
- Change the text you want to show rather than part of your articles
Deleting their pingbacks - When such contents being generated, you will most probably receive a backlink because these people think that by giving you a backlink, the can use your contents. If you don’t delete them and if they are banned sites, you will get yourself into trouble for linking to a banned site.
Report the site to major search engines - The most powerful search engines that we have now will be Yahoo Search and Google Search. These sploggers use search engine traffic to help them make money and by getting them banned, their dreams are as good as shattered. Submit these sites to Google Report A Spam Result and Yahoo Spam Report. Do your bit to save fellow bloggers!
Start doing all those stuffs now! Join my regime to fight off these sploggers! ![]()
I would like to ask: what is the way to check if someone is ’stealing’ my content? How did you find out about it? Through the backlinks?
Need no explanation any more. Coz I kena liao…. saw it right away in my dashboard when I logged into my wordpress blog. So now how?
Click on their adsense 100 times straight?
@ Valen
First, you should delete it and then install the plugin above. It can help fool around with them.
@ Kitkat
Actually, that is a great way as well. Make them get banned by Adsense for life. But still, they can report to Google there are invalid clicks which are out of their controls.
I have a relatively new blog, and all I had to do was write an article on the rel=nofollow and I got several of them within a few hours. I agree, if you take the time to write the article, you should want to protect it from these guys. Nice post, thanks.
Exactly! How dare they just copy blindly our efforts! Sometimes I take one week to do research and think of how to put it into my article! *curses*
Alrighty… I’ll check out the info. TQ.
Great, I’ll try that because I think I am being splogg.
I hope the plugin and steps highlighted above can help you all in fighting off these leechers.
