This week, my posting on this blog has been revived from the long hiatus in March. I also have the results of my Facebook marketing to show you together with my status on social media activities.
Apart from all the happenings and marketing that I am implementing on Wayne Liew Dot Com, happenings such as an unexpected blog sales and blogging tips covering the truth about earning with Google AdSense are being shared by bloggers on the blogosphere which I think are worth a read.
Wayne Liew Dot Com Happenings
The following are the few events and blogging experiments going on and I hope through these few experiments, you will be able to learn and avoid the errors that I have done in these experiments.
Ongoing Article Marketing for blog traffic Series
Article Marketing for blog traffic Series starts off with an introductory post explaining what is article marketing. We will be looking at the campaign and research stage this week which I will provide special insight to what to expect and what are the musts when planning an article marketing campaign. This is because article marketing is a form of marketing that is tiring and no one will want to write blatantly without any results in return. Thus, proper planning is a must in article marketing.
For those who are interested to learn more about how to use article marketing to build blog traffic, you can subscribe to Wayne Liew Dot Com RSS Feed to have the tips sent to you after the publication here.
Wayne Liew on Twitter
Yes, Wayne Liew is now on Twitter as well. Just proceed to my profile to follow me or to reply to my updates. It is cool since even before I publicize this, I have got people like Jake Marsh, Pavel from WPZoom, Derek from CapeCodSEO and Robert from Flimjo following me. Thanks! However, I still have more to learn about Twitter. Let’s just hope it won’t be something like Entrecard to me.
Establishing Social Media Profile
In my last blogosphere summary, I planned to significantly build my social media presence by being more active on social media sites and the following are the few social media activities that I have made:
- Submitting good contents of others
- Commenting on social media sites
- Submitting my own contents
The traffic that I got from Sphinn, StumbleUpon, Mixx and Blogging Zoom is nothing impressive as well and I will be gearing towards becoming a better social media user.
My improvement plan will be to interact with other social media users with interest in blogging. On Mixx, there are a few followers for my profile but I have no friends because I just did not reciprocate. Making friends on social media sites is vital as they will be following what you have submitted and what are the stories you like, giving more chances for what you like to gain popularity.
Facebook Marketing a Failure?
I tweaked my profile a little bit, cleared all the applications cluttering my profile, created a group called Learn Blogging to Blog Better, being active in group discussions and added a huge number of friends who have interests in blogging. However, due to the small portion of people within my network, Malaysia, that have interests in Internet-related business, webmasters issues and blogging, I have yet to fully optimize Facebook as a traffic building tool for my blog.
I will be adding in the following efforts to boost my blogging experiment on social network marketing:
- Create a fake Facebook account with US as my country.
- Build my profile on MySpace.
- Join more active groups in Facebook.
- Interact with my friends, except those marketers who kept on pushing me their products.
Hot Blogosphere Buzz and Blogging Tips
Over the past few days, the blogosphere has been rocked by a few significant events and some blogging tips that are less publicized which will be shared here as well.
Bloggers, Don’t Die of Blogging
New York Times report entitled Writers Blog Till They Drop shocked serious bloggers who blogged day and night in front of the computer. Patrick quickly came up with 10 Ways to Prevent Death by Blogging which bears a funny title (at least I had a good laugh).
Are you jeopardizing your health towards building your online profile? When is the last time that you are concerned about your health? To be honest, I am overweight, don’t have regular exercise and is under constant study pressure. I enjoy blogging and my studies but when both of them come crashing onto each other, I can feel the damage within me.
Cow for Sale at $25,000
Guys, do you provide a $25000 loan? I need one because John Cow is selling off John Cow dot com, his highly rated blog with high traffic and high amount of incoming links which I guess is the most successfully branded blog in the make money online niche. Whether you liked his writings or not, to complement this sale, John has included tonnes of goodies into the sales which some of them that I think will make the price worth are:
- .COM, .INFO, .BIZ, .ORG, .US for the word JohnCow as domains.
- Creative headers, mascots, banners and even desktop wallpapers for branding purposes.
- Fully sponsored web host.
- Premium plugins and Wordpress theme.
- Friends like John Chow and some other blogging powerhouses.
- 30GB iPod video.
If you don’t want the site, you are crazy. A rich kid blogging starter can simply buy it up, hire a few writers to write for him and everything will flow. John has done a great job branding the site and I don’t think other than maintaining the tone of the usual John, there will be anything difficult to be done.
Truth of Google AdSense Earning Capabilities Revealed
Being banned by Google AdSense, I don’t have much chances to experiment the blog monetization method and share with some optimization tips with my readers which I think will work. pablopabla wrote 15 Things I Learn About Google AdSense that listed out 15 truths that should be known by all bloggers planning to monetize their blogs with Google AdSense.
If your site contains information like an encyclopedia, chances are people are less likely to click on the ads. If your site contains little information, chances are they will click on the ads to get what they really want.
I agree with the above point, making most blogs nowadays unsuitable to be monetized with Google AdSense as bloggers are publishing more and better information onto their blogs. Do you use Google AdSense to monetize your main blog? How was the earnings and click through rates?
Social Marketing Tips for Social traffic building Success
Garry Conn wrote Successful Marketing and Promoting Tips In Social Networking Sites which came at the right time while I am trying to build a strong social media user profile in order to build social media traffic for my blog.
Each community has their own set of written rules as well as community based unwritten rules (e.g. what you do to be cool within the group). Most places such as Digg.com and StumbleUpon.com, discourage and frown upon others who submit their own content into their network.
This post really taught me a lot on how to really utilize social media sites as a traffic building method and on how to suit my blog posts to the favor of social media users. In the last part where Garry compared social media traffic with search engine traffic, it is possible to make a blog post optimized for search engines yet have the essence that social media users will like. It is just like consolidating on page SEO and readability into one blog post.

Hi there Wayne,
Just surfing on ‘info biz’ and similar terms and I ended up here. Very glad I did. Even just this one article is very cool and full of excellent info.
I’ve just started up my own online venture, y’see. I’m blogging about my experience in trying to turn a sale (or several) from the internet - not least cos I eventually want to move away from working for others and be able to do my own thing. And hopefully in the future be able to help others do that same too.
And I really wanted to see if it *is* possible to make money online. I know it must be because I know of alot of people who are. But what about us beginners - can we do it too? (Business, marketing, etc. are really a passion of mine so this seemed to me a cool experiment to undertake.)
What struck me about your blog is how experimental you are - and through that helping others see what works and what doesn’t. Great idea.
I feel like what I’m doing on my blog is a little similar, although at the moment I’m just following one plan, one system. As I build my knowledge I hope to be able to move to doing things more the way you are.
Great site, Wayne, I’ve added it to my blogroll (for my future benefit, and others’). I’ll be back to learn more too.
Do feel free to drop by too, I’d love to hear your comments on what I’ve been up to so far (all though it’s still very much a work in progress!).
Thanks again.
All the best,
Deb

@ Chetan
Following you as well. Bring me some nice updates.
@ Deb
Great to know someone who shares the same philosophy with me. I started blogging with nothing as well and as a teenager, I don’t ask money from my parents or use my pocket money for my online venture, such as to pay for this blog’s hosting fee.
I start earning from a blogspot blog last two years and eventually got my money to host my blog here. The Internet has opportunity for everyone, provided that you work hard to learn and to implement your ideas.
You are doing well with your blog and guess what, I am subscribed to your RSS feed!
All the best in blogging and make money online.
@ Flimjo and pablopabla
You’re welcome, guys!

Even having a few advices followed still need a great amount of effort. Well, they say if you’re not dead beat, you’re not learning anything..
My week has been busy. But I hope all the efforts are worthy. I’m still making an effort to post regularly and increase my exposure. Well, I hope everybody who reads mine can find something useful or they’e never thought of
What I need to do is adding more segmentation for my readers, since I combine blogging articles and GPT programs into one blog. And I think I need to make a more balanced post for both. The blogging tips outnumber my GPT review, and I think each topic has a different readers base.
I haven’t read all your post above, Wayne. But your invitation to share at the end of the post made me comment, hehehe

This “living in fear” shit is getting old.
