Blogosphere Summary Week #7

by Wayne Liew on April 5, 2008

My March was dreadful for both blogging and my academics. I just don’t have the might to post anything and I shall label that month as my worst blogging month ever. I admit that I was procrastinating, for the whole month! Anyway, this is something that I have to walk over and start off fresh in the month of April.

The aim of this blogging tips blog has always been trying to present the best and unique blogging tips to my readers. For this coming week, I have a few lineups and blogging experiments that I would like to share with all of my blog readers.

Facebook Marketing Blogging Experiment

I have been curious all this while on how webmasters of some niches are able to build traffic from social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace. With the Facebook toolbar installed on my browser, my experiment of using Facebook as a source of traffic is all set.

Why am I experimenting this traffic building method?

The Alexa traffic graph screenshot below will make everything clear.

If you guys wanted to help me with my experiment, just get yourself a Facebook account and start adding me as your friend at Wayne Liew’s Facebook profile.

Upcoming Article Marketing Traffic Building Series

Ever wonder how you could efficiently use article marketing which is seen as a tedious form of marketing to build targeted traffic for your blog? I am a blogger by day and a bum marketer by night. With this, I am able to give a series of blogging tips on how you can make article marketing the best traffic building method for your blog.

Heavy Participation on Social Media Sites for Profile Building

I have been using social media sites like Sphinn and StumbleUpon to discover interesting contents within the niche. My further aim would be to network with social media users and try to build up indirect search engine traffic. I will add Blogging Zoom and Mixx to my current social media site list. Things that I will be doing include submitting quality social media contents and try to be a real social media user.

For my readers who would like to add me as friends if you have accounts in these social media sites or you have some good contents that you would like me to submit or for me to vote on, my usernames are as follows:

Best of The Blogosphere

The much awaited launch of Wordpress 2.5 is here, which Wayne Liew Dot Com is now currently on, the blogosphere is full of reviews of the blogging platform with a brand new administration layout but I would say the best review would be WordPress 2.5: A Thorough Analysis by Tibi.

Other than this, there are a few great movements and tips on the blogging and webmaster niche which might interest you.

Death of Twitter and Squidoo Coming?

I can’t believe my eyes when I am reading 10 Net Services that will Succeed and 10 that will Probably Fail because among the list of 20 web services, Twitter, which received high publications about its benefits for authority building and interaction with customers has been predicted a failure together with Squidoo, a popular wiki-like page management site.

Web Service Industry Picks Success and Failures

For me, I don’t see the reasons why both of these services will fail since most Internet users are using them and with so many publicity in the form of a packed blog post series such as The Big Juicy Twitter Guide by Caroline, e-books and forum discussion on its optimization for the best results. Also, the reasons stated seem vague to me and even if it is the case, the turnaround can be easily done by these sites.

Write a del.icio.us Popular Blog Post Every Time

Steven had a good piece of article over at The Most Predictable Social Media Users which he elaborated reasons of why a success upon your content submission to del.icio.us can more or less can have the outcome predicted.

When analyzing what type of content Delicious users will bookmark, think about your own habits. What do you bookmark? Most of us that use del.icio.us do so because of the convenience factor.

You will definitely need to read his post on the what users normally bookmark on del.icio.us as he himself is a del.icio.us user and a blogger who enjoyed successes with the social media site.

Use Wordpress Plugins to Increase Comment Count

My most popular blog post, 10 Reasons Why You Are Not Getting Comments helped some bloggers to improve the atmosphere as a discussion place on their blog. 10 WordPress Plugins for Encouraging Comments On Your Blog by Caroline is another great post that outlined 10 Wordpress plugins that will will to further boost reader comments.

Meeting Room Discuss

Make your blog appealing for someone to post a comment, such as giving link loves via these plugins and as people are starting to comment, more will follow. As many have said, not everyone is courageous enough to become the first.

Thanks for the complements. Hope to see you around as well. :-)

@ Steven
I like your post on social media. In fact, I love them more than your post on blog design. Maybe I am just a blog design nuts.
