Last week, I failed to compile a Blogosphere Summary because I am busy preparing myself for the journey back to my hometown.

This week is a little bit different. Apart from a celebration which I am really proud of, there are a few good reads from the blogosphere which I think will be beneficial for you! Also, I would like to wish every Chinese readers Happy Chinese New Year and let’s rake in more money in this new lunar year! Offer me Ang Pow money via PayPal if you think I deserve it.
Another Sphinn Social Media Success
Once again, one of my articles was featured on the front page of Sphinn. Networking With New Bloggers - Pros and Cons got 39 Sphinns and broke my own record for the number of social media votes on one article. Two weeks ago, Ask Your Blogging Questions At The Right Place got onto the front page of Sphinn with 31 Sphinns.
I will write up a blogging tips post on how you can get onto the front page of the social media site in your niche soon but for now, Steven just launched a blog covering totally on social media over at Traffikd. Although the blog is still new, the contents there deserve a read for anyone of you who wishes to achieve social media success.
Social media websites are being used more and more by bloggers and website owners to gain exposure and traffic. However, social media in not necessarily an easy way to get a lot of traffic.
I see social media users as a special group of readers. You can’t capture them the way you capture targeted new readers and you can’t really uncover what are their needs of information as they are served with tonnes of it to their preferences everyday!
Bloggers who wanted to know the twists and turns to be successful with social media must read Challenges That Social Media Marketers Must Overcome, Targeting Niche Social Media Sites: 7 Practical Steps for Success and 5 Ways to Fail With Social Media Marketing which are all written by Steven.
Producing Better Blog Contents
Changing your blogging style can help you realize the better blogging side of you. You can be doing well with your current blogging style but sooner or later, your readers might get bored of what you are writing.
Darren came up with this idea of using humor when drafting your next blog post to make a blogging style change.
…when you communicate the same points with humor it is less likely to put the other person on the back foot and it gives them room to react in a more constructive way. Humor can still be used to make a point - but it’s more subtle and less confronting.
On the other side of the world, Gyutae listed out 3 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Use Numbered Lists in Your Posts.
Most of my popular articles are in a list format or bulleted format because they are part of my good blog post production. One of the reason Gyutae mentioned in his article is that the depth of the article will be very shallow.
Having shallow articles is definitely not a good thing as I am writing guides and how-to articles rather than serving posts for short-attention span readers like those in the technology niche. Extending the length of articles and breaking articles into parts are my solution for a good list post.
Blog Posting Schedule
pablopabla came up with this article, It Does Not Matter When You Post which set off my thinking virus. I don’t think it is necessary to post something according to which day your blog receives the most traffic but I do wait for Wednesday or Monday to publish a post which I think is my best for the week.
Fresh blog posts on the top of a blog is the most read article when someone arrives to your blog’s homepage at that period of time. It is a major part of the first impression that a visitor will build upon reaching your blog. Having your best post up on the day which you receive a lot of traffic will definitely get more exposure for the quality of information that you are able to offer.
Sum Up Your Week For Me
My week has been great with the celebration of Chinese New Year. If you would like to give me some Ang Pow money, which is a small amount of money which adults give youngsters during the Chinese New Year, you can donate via PayPal and all donations are appreciated.
How was your week in the blogosphere? Did anything unexpected happened to your blog that you would like to share with me? If you have written or read some good blogging tips and guides somewhere, just tell me about it and I’ll give it a read.

Care to tell the “secret”?

I liked the ‘It Does Not Matter When You Post’ article. I hardly ever post on Saturdays because that’s my least traffic day, and Tuesday-Thursday is when I get the most traffic. I’ve been observing this for a long while but reading that article put me in a different mindset.

About the blogging schedule: I have decided to stop publishing on Sundays: this way my Saturday post gets 2 days in a row on top. I try to publish a post every day of the week; I am thinking of writing 5-6 posts in one day and publish one a day so I get more time to do all the necessary social bookmarking stuff.
Some readers like lists, if you target readers with a short attention span, I think lists are better than long posts.

@ Gyutae
You’re welcome.
@ Ruchir
It will be up pretty soon but I guess for the moment, good contents still win.
@ Tay
So, will you be posting on Saturdays now?
@ Internet Junkie
5-6 original posts a day certainly is very demanding for me, productivity wise, since I still have my studies to take care of.
@ keeyit
Happy CNY! A lot of ang pow?

People love lists. I come across so many of them. They aren’t all great, but some of the best posts I’ve seen have been lists that have great commentary.
