@ robojiannis, Troy, Ian & Vinh Le
It is up to your blog style that you are having on your blogs. If you are planning to have them within your sidebars, you should not have any more banner ads around them.

@ Madhur
Contents is no doubt the most important element for a blog. However, a blog will not be complete without the sidebars.

@ seo blogger
Do you mean that the 125x125 blocks will be resembling your popular posts? It will make your readers more likely to have the mindset that they are ads instead of your contents.

@ Jon
Images will only stand out if most of your sidebar is currently filled with words. Do remember not to make your sidebar a gallery for images.

Great tips just in time as I plan to update my sidebar soon as well. I'll try and find ways to rotate my advertising on the side and include more images as well. Thanks.

I don't know about most visitors Robojiannis, but in skimming this article I first thought the images in that screenshot were ads, so you're probably right that it is a big risk.

I will second what robojiannis has to say, I believe they will certainly be mistaken for ads and ruin the whole point of using it.

Great tips!
I just have my doubts about putting images rather than text in the sidebar. Wouldn't it seem like ads then?
