Many blogging experts out there always tell people that “Don’t blog about blogging, don’t blog about money making and don’t blog about technology stuffs”. Why? This is because these niches are all saturated, meaning there are already too much blogs that are blogging about these topics.
I can see this and I think you can see it as well. Despite all the advice on not to tap a saturated topic, there are a significant amount of such blogs in the blogosphere. Why is it that the niche is already competitive and yet people are still jumping into the red blood ocean? I will share with you the reasons on why people tap saturated niche in this post.
Reader’s Interest
Even if there are a lot of blogs on this issue, people are always reading these stuffs. This can be easily observed. Look at all those MAKE MONEY ONLINE ads, they get clicks. Try posting a comment by the name of Make Money Online at some big blogs out there and see how much traffic you will get.

Even if you are not on top of the crop, you will still be getting traffic easily, search engine wise or marketing wise. I don’t see there will be a slowdown on the birth of blogs covering the saturated niche as long as these fields are the ones that people are interested in, especially money.
Easy Info Acquisition
Due to the fact that a saturated niche is covered by a lot of blogs, most of the information is readily available online and what you need to do is just adding your views on it, viola, and a brand new posts can be published.
Most of the people out there are blogging for money and trying to find an easy way to build up their blog for different purposes. Targeting a saturated niche is just right for them. Remember the sploggers which I previously mentioned? They too are targeting some of the most saturated niche like blogging and Internet.
Network
Remember all the marketing ways like commenting on other blogs and build up a peer relationship with peer bloggers taught to you by other bloggers? Well, when a niche is saturated, the network and peers that are in the same interest as yours will be a lot. This makes blogs that you find suitable for you to comment are a lot and marketing can become easier.
The best part of it is that because many people joined these niches everyday, you can easily find new bloggers that you can build the peer relationship with.
Advertisers
A niche like how to blog and money making is linking everything together at the end. Let me tell you how. People love money. Lots of advertisers will be publishing those money making tools using Google Adsense or through direct ad sales. These advertisers are looking for blogs that are contextual with their ads and because if this blogs in such niches are chosen.

To get all the attractive money offered by these advertisers and sellers, you will need to have a blog on these topics. Look at all the banner ads and affiliate banners out there and you will know what I mean. With this, people is jumping onto the bandwagon to get such advertisements on their blogs.
Fun

Do you know some people have that competitive attitude where they just like to compete with others? I am not labeling all of them of them are doing this for this purpose but my feeling is telling me that some people will do the following (just an example):
A posted a stats of earnings, for example WidgetBucks (which is quite hot), B will look and benchmark the stats and in a few days time, an earnings stats will pop out on B’s blog, showing that his WidgetBucks widget is performing better than A. Do you like to compete?
Are you blogging on a saturated niche? Why are you in it? I admit I do because you are reading something about blogging on this blog. A personal journal blog is not saturated. Every person’s life is different and it is worth reading as long as it is interesting, I love reading these blogs! Do you have anything to add to the above?

You may start last in blogging on a saturated subject, but if you run steadily may overtake many others and at the end you will find that actual competitions is only among top 10-50 and then you might be one of them.

Well, I am on my way to my own blog style
Blogger need time to develop not only the blog content but also their mind set. They follow at the beginning because they know less, they will find their way last when they are mature enough to be a blogger.
So, is ok for them to follow the trend at the beginning. Everyone have the same chances to make a popular blog. Main thing is, have to find out your field first. But I think this take times and passion
Money is kind of temptation

Wayne, you reminded me something. As you mentioned there are too many similar technology and Internet blog where they post similar things. In my opinion, actually it doesn’t matter because reader will get more understanding regarding a particular article.

Look at it this way guys and gals, goldfries.com is a testament of a blog that jumps into a saturated niche!
How many tech blogs are there in the world? PLENTY! Yet despite all odds, goldfries.com is now doing very well in less than 6 months!
Best of all I did not do promotion actively, you can see Wayne is WAY more active than I am.
All I did was focus on content. That’s it. I put my blog on forum signature here and there that’s it.
I’m got a little bit more active promoting it for the past month or 2 (still less active compared to Wayne. No time la, I have my business to run!
) but even prior to that it was Alexa Ranking 230k or so within 3 months with almost 0 effort in promoting, even overtaking PC Modding Malaysia, another tech site who’s been around for years.
You guys can ask Wayne and Jayhan la. They know me and my blog since the start if I’m not mistaken.

Aiikkkkks, I have chosen the wrong niche to blog on!

@ Jalaj
This has to do with those bloggers with not much persistence. When they give up, you become higher. This is why the longer you blog, the more authority you will get because of all the search engine traffic and the contents.
@ lukxiufung
I can say money is the side income which we earn from blogging. I don’t say I will not blog for money because I do put ads but money aside, I still write and blog for fun!
@ jayhan
Your niche is somehow unique to me but I am not in that design field yet and this is why I don’t leave comments. Anyway, I know your site is not targeting me, you are targeting someone with design minded people.
I give you one tip, try designing a Wordpress theme. It will give your blog a bang, instantly!
@ Mercury
This might be true that everyone will blog about it in a different way but what I am saying is that some doesn’t really know what blogging is all about and they kept posting about a news without adding their views to it.
@ goldfries
Anyway, I don’t mind.
You call this little promoting? You are promoting your blog here!
Content is the key. It is useless you go all out posting your links here and there but not having good contents. I admit that goldfries has good contents (although I scratched my head with his games and hardware reviews
). I know you from LYN but since LYN changed the blogging forum to Kopitiam, I am not interested any more…
@ Kitkat
Why? Because now you know you are on a saturated niche? This is not wrong, if yo put in effort, you can go very high as well.

Wayne, my promotion very little liao lor cos I spend most of my time on content and other things in life.
If want to go all out ah, fuiyoh I don’t need to do work already.
My promotion come mostly from people who tell other people about my content.
Myself? very little la. Now picking up a little also but still nothing compared to you.
yeah so sad LYN move it to Kopitiam. I’ve requested it to be moved out of Kopitiam twice but like unheard wan.
The thing about saturated niche is that you also have a lot of readers.
All you need to do is make sure your content is
1. interesting
2. has personality
3. has quality

@ goldfries
Yes, I do a lot of comment marketing. I am not going to the extent of using Google Adwords yet.
@ jayhan
Learn when you have time. I learnt many things from the Internet as well. goldfries has been one of my tutors.

To be honest, one of the reasons I don’t enjoy reading your blog as much as last time is that you concentrate too much blogging about blogging…Last time when I first discovered your blog you were more personal and that attracted me a lot. But now it’s all different.
Anyways you should do what you enjoy best. Good luck friend!

I changed to a niche blog and to be honest, if I blog about my personal life, there will be nothing much to blog about. Sorry…
