Wayne Liew Dot Com is all about simple blogging tips, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed to get yourself free blogging tips updates.

Different blogs have a different posting frequency. A blog’s posting frequency simple means how often do you update your blog. Do you know that a blog’s posting frequency will affect you, your readers and your blog in a way? What will be the best update frequency for a blog? This is what we will be looking at today, the advantages of both frequent posting and low frequency posting.

High Posting Frequency

Wayne Liew Dot Com is being updated daily and I see this as frequent posting. If you update your blog from a few times daily to a post every two days, your blog will qualify for the high posting frequency category.

Advantages

    Fresh Tomato

  • Freshness of post
The more frequently you update, the more fresh contents that will be provided to your readers. Your loyal readers and subscribers will come back to read your blog everyday because they know that you will be updating everyday. You will be getting yourself consistent or increasing traffic because of the returning traffic plus the new visits.
  • Sticky Slug

  • Database expansion
When you update frequently, you are building a database in a very fast manner. A huge database of a blog can bring in higher search engine traffic since you will have more pages (of course quality matters) being indexed than others. Stickiness of your blog because of the huge amount of information will increase, making your visitors stay for a longer period.
  • Flexibility of buzz posting
If you are updating frequently, you are able to post a series of news that popped out suddenly without being blamed. The reason for this is that it is a norm to scroll deeper after the first post because your readers know that they might have missed out something. One or more red hot news that might not been covered by other blogs are great assets for linkbaits and I am sure you don’t want it to be left unnoticed when you have a lot of it.
  • Google

  • High frequency of search engines robots visit
If you update your blog frequently and you have the habit of pinging (use of ping list or Google XML Sitemap Plugin) search engines, your blog will be monitored and crawled everyday by search engines’ robots. Every time you update your blog, the contents will be indexed faster on search engines since search engines’ robots are on your site frequently. Take Wayne Liew Dot Com for example, due to the frequent updates, it is crawled by Google bots at least once a day.
  • Satisfying more readers
When you post something, it might be favorable for some types of readers but is being seen as rubbish by another category of readers. If you are posting frequently, you will cover more things and you will get more readers since you might have covered what they liked. If you have a post every few days, they might be tired of waiting what they like to come out and eventually will leave for something else.

Low Posting Frequency

Advantages

    Man Resting

  • Let your RSS subscribers rest
People subscribe to RSS feed because they are not able to visit so many blogs everyday and they want those posts to be kept in their reader so that they can catch up when they are free. If you are posting frequently, you might add to their number of unread posts. This will make them difficult to catch up with your blog and eventually unsubscribe from your blog.
  • Pressurized Face

  • Lower Pressure
You will not need to rush a post and I am sure every blogger will have the headache sometimes of what to post. Having a low posting frequency will keep you away from pressure and you will enjoy blogging more. Pressure is something that you must avoid since it determines how long will you keep blogging as a hobby and sometimes, the quality of your work.
  • Attention to a post
I think you would have noticed that if your posts drops deep into your archives after a period of time, it is less likely that you will find readers commenting on it. Many bloggers see this and decided to put their articles on top for a few days before posting another article to accumulate the comments by readers. Some set a target for a post like “20 comments before the next post” so that their articles will be read and sometimes linked by a lot of people before being pushed further down.
  • Researching News

  • Depth of article
If you are having a niche blog and are constantly required by your readers to produce quality posts, you will need to ensure your posts covers a topic widely and extensive research is something to be done. A low frequency of posting will give you time to do your data collection, research, and article structuring so that a high quality article will appear on your blog after three to five days. This has been put to practice by Maki which you can read about it under Case Studies at Strategic Blogging: Creating the Right Content to Achieve Your Income Goals.

Which frequency to choose?

I stated five advantages of each frequency but can you think of what other advantages that you have get with your current posting frequency? Do you enjoy it? Both have their own goods and choosing the one which you are most comfortable with is the key here.

I have a couple more things to share with you on posting frequencies. Hope that you will find it useful.

Stick to a frequency
Before you start a blog, you should determine what will be your posting frequency. After you have that frequency implemented, don’t change it any more since your readers will start to acknowledge it. Changing the frequency is like changing the time for lunch and dinner which most of us don’t like. You might want to change sometimes, maybe due to your routine change such as change of your work shift. You can change but slowly, surely not taking a 5 days leave from blogging which you are posting daily previously.

Reporter Chasing For News

Niche
Some niche like current issues and technology requires high posting frequency because of the surge of happenings. Look at your daily newspapers, even though they are being published and delivered to you everyday, they still have the articles that keep us reading for a long time. Choose your niche properly when you wanted to start a niche blog, know what capacity of posting is needed for a niche so that you will not get frustrated, bored or tired of blogging.

Posting frequency is something really important for a blog. How frequent are you updating your blog? Do you stick to it or it varies from time to time? Does your current frequency getting you more or consistent traffic? Maybe you can share with me here.

Before you start reading this post, I would like to apologize to everyone that came forward with your precious comments in my post, Whacked for Paid Post Spamming, especially Josh Lim, the founder of Advertlets. I have been taught a lesson the hard way! I gave in to stupid thoughts and naive thinking!

Last night, when I was preparing another article for Wayne Liew Dot Com, I received an text message from the real Josh Lim:

Text Message

Wayne Liew Yee Piao… This is the real Josh Lim from Advertlets here. Someone has been leaving comments pretending to be me. Please check, I left a new comment on your blog.

I thought Josh was trying to fool around here but I don’t think other than the real Josh and those who are my Facebook friends will know my mobile phone number. I replied and made things clear with him.

The person who previously voiced his “disappointment” of me writing paid posts on my blogspot blog is not Josh Lim as the real Josh Lim immediately left a comment after knowing about it through my post. Also, I do have a few people e-mailing me or commenting on that issue saying that Josh will not be doing that supported by various reasons.

Did I looked stupid? I should say yes. Wait a minute, should I thank this impostor? I know he/she (mostly he, probably a Malaysian) might be laughing when he was reading this. Don’t choke dude, I am thanking you.

Here is my usual style of writing a post again! 5 Reasons I Should Thank Grave-Digging Impostor!

    Investigate before concluding
I have learnt my lesson. If I would have take my time to ask Josh about the whole thing, I wouldn’t had come out with such a stupid blunder. I have made a conclusion that made myself looked like a dumb. To all my readers, even if you come across something that might be a great content to be posted, please do the topic a thorough research before blogging about it.

    People are envious of me
Thanks to the impostor for telling me that I am worth to be played a prank alongside Josh Lim. I am proud of myself and one question to the impostor, “Are you envious of me?” You just helped me out of your envy. Thank you very much.

I got a post to write
Dear impostor, I am very grateful that you brought up an issue for me to blog about since I actually came across a blogger’s block yesterday. My draft posts are all not ready to be posted and you have done me a favor in helping me to keep me to my posting frequency.

I got advice on paid post writing
I got a long lecture from goldfries which I will look deeper in it. Paid post has always been my main income source until the last month. Most probably I will be writing lesser since cloned humans don’t like it. The best I guess to cut off my spamming history will be deleting my blogspot blog (after I have been paid with all the holding funds).

    Big Fish After Small Fish

    I know more about human
I am just to naive about people’s attitude. I do come across great and nice people over the blogosphere but this experience raised my awareness about people’s attitude, especially we are all behind our monitors. I guess the Internet is just as same as the society. I shall be careful of people around me as well.

The above is the all that I have to thank the great impostor. Minor damages have been done but they will just bring me worthless lessons. I have learned one more thing on my journey to be a 18 years old teenager.

What’s your opinion?
What do you think about people imposting to be others? I thought of using a cursing post against that guy but what do you think about my post above? Do you think that it looks more professional? Have you came across such people who impersonate others? Tell me your experience about it.

I am sorry
To Josh, I hope you would forgive me for my clumsiness in handling things. I got my lesson. I also hoped that one day, you will have no more such things happening, on both MyBlogLog and anywhere else on the Internet.

It’s not from Google concerning my Google Page Rank and neither it is from PeePeePee.

Updates: The comment on my blogspot blog appears to be a prankster job. Read more about it at Hails Josh Lim Clone for Giving Me Lessons.

I received an e-mail notification today which I don’t normally receive but it was from someone great in Malaysia’s blogosphere. Josh Lim, the founder of local advertising platform, Advertlets has posted a comment on my old blogspot blog which are as stated below:

Josh Lim Comment On My Spam Blog

Damn sad that blogs like yours exist.

Poluting the blogosphere with spam.

Also damn sad to see how you practive being nice nice on WayneLiew.com but spam the internet with blogs like these.

I have to admit that I am still writing paid posts as I have admitted with Paid Posts - My Main Income Source. I continue to write it on my already Google Page Rank-zerofied blogspot blog since I am still getting opportunities but certainly not from PeePeePee.

The reason I am writing this post is to ask opinions about the statement by Josh above. I know spam blogs will always invite hatred and anger from bloggers and Internet users. Anyway, I am not as great as some of those people out there who steal contents of others to make money from Google Adsense.

I am always on the middle line when I write paid posts with that blogspot blog. I knew one day this will be brought up as an issue, by me myself or by someone like Josh here.

My blog has been featured on Zerofied Google PR! during the Page Rank demotion where my blogspot PR dropped from a 5 to 4 then now, 0. I see paid post writing as another way to earn side income and I always write it when I am free.

Also, I have made an announcement at my old blog before that I will be focusing my writings on Wayne Liew Dot Com since this site is launched. The paid-to-blog platform that I used for that blogspot blog are not platforms like PeePeePee or Sponsored Reviews that have terms stating that a blog should not contain just paid posts.

I am sure that most of you saw all kinds of spam blogs (splogs) before using Blogger as a platform. Before the penalization of paid post blogs by Google, there were even more! Now, you can see tonnes of blogspot blogs writing just for the sake of getting traffic which will convert into money for them.

I am not cheating by saying a site is great or a product is great. I am just adding links to some random posts which I wrote. Can I say that it is just a personal blog for me to crap and nothing is contributing there?

I can stop paid post writing on the blog any time from now if majority of you demand me to do so. My readers win my decision. Vote to help me make my decision on extreme paid post writing on that blogspot blog.

Money is the Root of Evil

Will you agree that I am innocent making money by “spamming” a blogspot blog that way?

Wayne Liew is focusing on this site that you are reading now. The blogspot blog is not something that deserves your attention. I removed Advertlets ad panel from that blogspot blog as well since Josh doesn’t like such blogs.

If anyone of you who are reading this and felt that I have did something wrong here, give me a lecture here since you might be right.

Do you remember 10 Reasons You Are Not Getting Comments? One of the points in there will be your posts are just lousy. I have a habit of bloghopping around and I find that sometimes, it is not that a blog has low quality articles, it is just that the presentation of the articles that is causing the problems.

Writing Article

I would like to share with you the 10 Variables of Article Readability with this post. The reason I call them variables is that you will need to manage the amount to get the best of it. Excessive and non-existence usage will cause problems for you.

  • Paragraphing
Paragraphs are must have elements for an article. Article which don’t have proper paragraphing will make the article seems boring and your readers will be so tired reading it.

I have seen people using one line paragraphs and paragraphs that might reach 20 lines long. A set of similar points should be grouped into one paragraph and another paragraph should mark the start of another thinking point. Equal paragraph lengths will also be very important since your readers will not have a sudden surge or inconsistent information absorption because of the irregularities in paragraphs’ length.

The rule of thumb in paragraphing which is recommended by me will be try to write a paragraph not more than 7-8 lines. The amount of words with this length will be sufficient (will not be shallow or overloaded with information) and most of the time, the length will be performing well no matter the screen or font size.

  • Sub-Headers

    Headings

I like to use sub-headers such as this post of mine. A bolded text or a line of text with different styling which will make the line stands out is good for an article to make a reader understands what you are trying to bring up at one glance. This will benefit those who don’t have enough time for blog reading and also, this technique might turn a first time visitor into a frequently returning reader because you showed your substance with these headings.

You must also be aware that having too much sub-headers but little contents beneath it will make your article looks shallow.

  • Italics and Bolds
Italic and bold in our blog post editor are often used to emphasis on certain keywords in our articles. Using these words will make clear to readers what are the important items that will need their attention.

    Highlighter highlighting words

Occasional usage of bold and italic words can be useful but if you had used it on most part of your article, why not bolding the whole article or paragraph? It is like coloring (not drawing) an article with a highlighter if you are bolding things here and there!

  • Colors
Some people are deep in love with colors and they went crazy in using it. They might use a different color for each paragraph. Yes, your site might look lively but do you know that too many colors used will actually chase people away from your blog? Did you came across newspapers with different colors for words in their articles?

    Colored Text

Black text with a white background is still the top choice if you want to present an article with a high level of readability. Check out article databases like Ezinearticles. There are tonnes of words and what color did they used for the text?

  • Links
Links within an article can do more than linking all the relevant information on the Internet to your article. A link will always have a different color than your plain text. A link has been said that it is an enhancement to a post as plain post with just black and white.

Adding links with colors matching to the theme you used for your site and spreading them in an appropriate amount over your post will add some interactivity for your readers. Also, you might be giving out links to external sources and internal articles which has proved to be useful in link and traffic building.

  • Inline Text Ads

    Kontera Ad Bubble

Remember Kontera as a money maker? Do you know other services like AdBrite and Clicksor? They all provide inline text ads which you will have ad bubbles popping out from keywords that are highlighted by them in your post. Although many claimed that this will deteriorates the quality of an article but I do see the benefit side of it.

If used properly by controlling the amount of keywords highlighted, adding codes on places you forbid and allow the ads to be shown and of course, changing the color of the ad links will deny the ads from decreasing your readability and will make you money at the same time!

  • Images
Adding relevant images to your articles will give your readers a break after reading a large amount of text. A change of colors in your post with images will allow their eyes to relax a little. Using an image might also be a great way to replace explanations that might take 500 words to complete!

Despite the fact that images are good, don’t fill your blog up with lots of images unless you are having a photoblog or you are a personal blogger who loves photo-shooting.

  • Text Font Size

    Small font size

Will you go for a small font size or a large one like what Problogger is using? Big fonts will make your post looks long which requires a lot of scrolling but small fonts will make your readers focus with a little bit more effort in focusing their vision to read what you are writing about.

  • Bullets
Bulleted items in a list within a post is a very good method of summarizing all the points which you would like to show. Although it is good, I do see a lot of people ‘abusing’ it by using it the wrong way.

If your bulleted points are in a paragraph form, you might like to space up the paragraphs or adding a sub-heading to a point so that the points will not seen to be chunked together. If you are writing a list with one line points, I will recommend you to chunk it all together since separating them will make your post looks hollow with nothing much to be offered.

  • Fluid and Fixed Themes
The last thing here will be something that has nothing to do with your writings but it will have an significant impact on it. If you have a fluid theme and you are having a monitor which has low screen resolution, the lines of text might seems great for you but what if your readers are having high resolutions? Your articles might be full of one or two liners to them.

Read more of it at Fixed vs Fluid Website Layouts and do you see why this affects your post readability?

Implementing the Variables Smartly

Screen Resolution Graph

I am not the jack of all blogs and I should say every blogs differs in a way. You might be getting a lot of readers that don’t read Wayne Liew Dot Com. I do advise you not to view your stats frequently but use it wisely to monitor things like what are the screen resolutions your readers use and what are the significant variables that have an impact on reader responses.

Have you tried out writing your articles with some of the tips above? Do you have any impact with the tips? Do you have any other secret tips to be added onto what I have write about above?

Bye bye Kontera

I am cutting down one of my money maker used on Wayne Liew Dot Com again. This time, it will be the turn for inline contextual advertising platform, Kontera, which is also known as ContentLink by some.

Some readers of mine might have noticed that I have dumped local ad network, Advertlets because of some common reasons which most of the people out there have voiced out. This time round will be Kontera. I guess Kontera has violated my guide, 5 Considerations Before Placing An Ad Panel but specific reasons which helped me in making this decision are as follows.

  • Irrelevant ads

    Irrelevant ads with Kontera

I am starting to find Kontera ads becoming more and more irrelevant. Although they boast contextual ad display, I am starting to find that their technology highlights my keyword but giving me the wrong ads, which most of them are by consumer goods sellers such as Shopping.com. “Windows Live Messenger” has been highlighted but the ads popping out clearly showing that it will bring me to a site selling window frames!

  • Design spoiler
What I am against Kontera is that these extra “links” might spoil your site by making it having too much of links. The numbers can be controlled but the ads might clogged up in just one paragraph rather than being spread out and adding those exclusion codes might be an extra chore if you want to manage them.

Also, you will not have the chance to modify their bubbles popping out. You might have a red themed site like Wayne Liew Dot Com but although the links can be red, the bubble can’t (it will still be orange).

  • Tortoise

  • Slow loading
My site has been complained of slow loading by some Malaysian readers. This site is being hosted in the United States and I am always hoping to cut down the loading time. Removing slow loading ads can be the best choice. Kontera still have the average loading speed but it was the sudden lag during the load that prompts me for doing this.
  • Readability
This has been the problem which all former Kontera publishers might have faced during their feat with Kontera. The bubble ad popping out will block a number of text if there is a mouse-over on the links. It might kill off a reader’s interest to continue reading your post if it has many traps like this.
  • Bad performance
The purpose of a money maker is to make money for me. Kontera may be a great money maker for some bloggers but I had a miserable experience with it. I have been with Kontera for such a long time but I have only earned $5++, which you might be earning with one paid post a day.

There are a few more reasons which prompts me to make this decision but these reasons have nothing to do with Kontera. Read on to know what had caused me to be brave enough to ditch two money makers on this blog.

Direct ad sales

Submit Comfort

I have made my first private ad sales and I would like to welcome Submit Comfort, which will be the first direct ad sponsor for Wayne Liew Dot Com. They are a good service for you to try out if you would like to save some time on the tedious work like directory submissions and social marketing. The prices are reasonable and I can say that they will be very willing to listen and understand what are your needs.

Direct ad sales will not be my major income but still it is earning much better than Kontera ads. If you would like to sponsor or to have your ads on Wayne Liew Dot Com, hop over to my Advertise page for more information.

Ad free aim
I always have the dream of having an ad free blog so that my readers can really focus on what am I writing. Call me a whore or whatever but I have the belief that a blog is always about the contents. Getting my blog ad free will also give out the impression that I am not blogging solely for money.

Is Kontera really so bad?

Ipod Touch to Ipod Touch

I would say it depends on what site you will be placing their ads. Shopping sites or tech sites will do very well with them since their ads are revolving about consumer products. Also, if your blog has high traffic and your readers will come to your blog no matter how hard it will get to read your articles, you should try Kontera, I am sure you will get high click throughs as well.

Gathering Your Thoughts
What do you think about Kontera ads? Have you tried them out or will you try them out in the future? If you have been using it, how has it performed for you? Do you have other advertising platforms to be recommended for others?

Many of us blog on a part-time basis which means blogging is just another part of our routine since we will have other aspects, such as academics or work for us to be taken care of.

As a part-time blogger myself, I find difficulty in seeking the balance in my online and offline life. I often face the following problems:

  • No time for people around me
  • No time for extra entertainment
  • No time for my main aspects, academics
  • No time for researching blogging topic research
  • No time for planned blog marketing strategies

Do you face any similar problems? I have to agree that many people have either abandoned their blog or other main aspects in life to focus on only one thing. Having a dual-focus lifestyle is hard and proved pressurizing, especially you still have interests in both of them.

Clock

As you can see from my list above, the phrase “NO TIME” is the key. Will you say 24 hours is not enough for you? I wouldn’t say so especially after reading Skelliewag’s Time is Something You Make.

Remember my list of what to do to fill up blogging idle time? How much of your time has been spent on something productive? Whenever you get online, how much time that you have actually spent on your blog, for contents and for marketing? Whenever you get offline, how much time that you have spent on gaming, movies and entertainment?

The main distractions when we are online that kept us from blogging productively are:

  • E-mail inbox – I have subscribed to 8 newsletters and I can say at least one mail will come in every one hour. I checked it, read it from top to bottom but I didn’t realized that my blogging activity is left hanging.
  • MSN Messenger and Skype Logo

  • Instant messenger – I should admit that IM softwares such as Windows Live Messenger and Skype really kills my time. I can spend up to one or two hours by chatting with over 5 different people.
  • Social media and forumingSocial media and foruming are great ways to market your blog and to search for yourself blogging ideas. The problem with these platforms is that we tend to end up reading unnecessary stuffs and posting replies to junk discussions.
  • Non-related sites – What a betting site got to do with your blog on food? Why are you watching online porn when you don’t have an adult site? Kill the intentions of accessing sites like porn sites that are extremely sticky once you have access to them. They can really be time consuming.
  • What If? Worry Pic

  • Offline worries – Some people have the focusing problem whereby they can’t focus on what they are doing but instead, they think of other things. When you are blogging, think about your blog and don’t think about what will you be eating for dinner.

What are the other distractions you can think of?

On the offline side of life, I should say that entertainment is the killer of productivity. When we are entertaining ourselves, we are doing nothing productive. After we have finished the “entertaining activity”, we normally laze around before getting our engines kicked off again.

You have all the distractions above bothering you? I will have a few ways which you can try to apply to your life so that you can free yourself from all of it.

  • Timetable and scheduling
Seriously, you need a daily timetable to plan out your activities by hour. If you are always having your computer with you, you can try putting your planned activities into your time slots by using softwares such as Windows Calendar or Google Calendar which are free of charge.
  • What is your focus?

  • Focus
When you are doing A, just think of A. Don’t think about blogging during a class or at your workplace if they have nothing to do with blogging. When it time to blog, blog hard and when it is time for you to study or work, study and work hard.
  • Review
When you are doing something, make it a chore to write down the time spent on a particular activity. Comparison can be made wth the one planned and it will be clear to you of which non-productive activity is consuming much of your time.
  • Man and Woman Working Together

  • Multi-tasking
I know many out there have this wonderful ability to multi-task. Instant messaging at the same time while you are studying and for some who are even better, blogging while studying. This is definitely wrong and it has a high possibility that you will end up accomplishing nothing!
  • Make the time
God is fair by giving 24 hours to everyone. Many people became successful by just having 24 hours in life but there are also some who did not manage to get any thing done with 24 hours daily. It is all about how you use the 24 hours and there is always more than enough time. Don’t sleep that much, rise early and sleep a little bit late is one way of making time for yourself.

I am posting this today because you will be experiencing a brand new week tomorrow – a productive week that everyone, including you will be amazed with what you can do with 24 hours a day.

What other ways that you think will boost your productivity, for both your online and offline goals? Do you think that you have been a productive person all the while? How productivity has killed of many of your aims in life?

Online dating sites have been a booming field on the Internet. The returns can be very lucrative if you have a simple yet usable dating site with a large database of members. Date.com is a great yet simple site that fulfills the the needs of becoming a great online dating site. When I first entered the site, a home page with a simple layout and a registration form greeted me.

Date.com is more than a dating site with a nice domain. The slogan “Don’t let love pass you by” will be prompting enough to make people register under the site. I didn’t register for the site although it is free. I know with my experience that most of these dating sites will be free to join but when you want to have access to most of their services, you will need to upgrade to a premium account which you will need to pay.

Date.com Success Stories

Date.com boasts a 10 years history and claimed that they had helped thousands of singles to find a date for themselves. I didn’t know dating sites can be this useful but after checking out their Success Stories page, I have the feeling that this site can really upends any circumstances to make two singles to be together.

Date.com Webzine

Date.com also have a webzine incorporated into their site. The webzine features dating advices, virtual interviews with singles and also a horoscope section for you to check out the compatibility between you and your loved ones. The theme used is a news site theme which I can see the appropriateness for a webzine. One more thing that caught my eyes is again the wonderful domain that they have managed to grab on for the webzine - http://www.date.info

Date.com Affiliate Offer

As a blogger and Internet user who is always on the lookout for money making opportunity, the affiliate section of Date.com caught my eyes with the banner above. I am an affiliate of Adult Friend Finder and I have make good money from it so the “5 or more signups” doesn’t seem to be very difficult. Unfortunately, my affiliate account with Date.com has not been approved and they have not reply my question on whether the signups are fellow affiliates or members for the site database.

If you are not interested in both finding a partner or making money from the attracting affiliate program, Date.com offers something for bloggers which you can blog about or show it off on your blog. In their Quizzes section, they have two tests for you. One will be “How addicted are you to online dating?” and the other is “Hot or Not Calculator”. I did the test and the results are shown below. What is the outcome of your test?

Hot or Not CalculatorOnline Dating Addictiveness

Looking at Date.com as a whole, I should say that it is a simple dating site with lots of goodies to be offered and at the same time contributing to its main purpose as a dating site. What I don’t like about the site are the support offered and the speed of approval of my affiliate account. The rest will be for you to try out!

Have you joined any dating sites before? How do you think of Date.com (I still think that the domain is nice)? What will you write in our review about them? Do you know that by becoming an online dating site affiliate can be a great passive and recurring income source for you if you know the way?

Some people find it hard to learn how to blog properly or sometimes they need a role model to keep them up in blogging so that they don’t give up easily. I know some of you might be wondering, “Where I can find a role model or a tutor and what are the factors that I need to consider?” I will be giving out tips on this with this post.

Finding the right tutor or role model will be extremely important if you want to get the right information and motivation throughout your blogging routine. Also, I don’t think you will want to waste your time learning things from some people who are faking out (sometimes cheating your money) or just not good in providing you with the right stuffs.

Considerations Before Choosing a Tutor and Role Model for Yourself

Knowledge

Stack of Books

I am sure that you would not want learn things from someone who have nothing to offer. There are a lot of blogs and people out there who are posting contents that are either copied or consists of no essence. A quick peek at their archives and comparing their articles to some other blogs out there will let you see the quality of knowledge that this person possesses.

Experience
A role model and a tutor’s role is to teach you things and offer you steps for you to follow. As a follower or a student, I would not want to test things out with my tutors. Why should I? They must have the experience to do things that they ask us to do. The experience is also important when it comes to providing you solutions for problems. Experienced tutors will know more than enough to predict the outcome of a happening because they might have gone through it before.

Proven Results
All the bluffs are nothing if he/she didn’t show you the proof that his/her ways really work to get the results you want. I know that not everyone have bombastic stats to show to the world but a stats or two can provide you an assurance before jumping into conclusion that this person is the Mr. Right for you! ;-)

Cost

Money Bag

Some blog coaching or tutoring programs such as Yaro Starak’s Blog Mastermind will charge you for the course. If you are really serious about blogging, you might consider to join such courses but please, before you click the “Register” button, search for reviews and testimonials regarding the course. Weighing the quality and the money that you will need to pay might keep you out from wasting your money on programs that are not suitable for you.

Interpersonal Skills
The person tutoring you must have the right interpersonal skills or communicating skills to convey the information to you properly. Some people tend to understand slowly, especially if they are new in this field. The explanation provided by the tutor must be adjusted for the understanding of his readers. Writing styles is the key to evaluate this aspect. If you read the articles written by this man and find it too hard for you to understand even a single sentence, you should move on. The way the writer is writing just doesn’t suit you.

Availability
Let’s just be realistic about this. A big blogger with tonnes of e-mails waiting for his replies everyday will not have time for every questions. A blogger with a rather small blog might have the time to cover your questions more thoroughly. Why not write in to someone with the same or slightly low level of expertise that will ensure you a reply rather than writing in to a person with a high level of expertise but the possibility of a reply is doubted?

Humble

Man Holding I Am Humble Sign

The role model or tutor that you are looking for must be someone who is humble. People who are humble will be more willing to teach and share things with you if you ask for it. Also, they might spend their precious time explaining something that you don’t understand to you thoroughly. If the person you chose is arrogant, you might not learn anything, get a cold shoulder from him and sometimes, you might only be reading boastful posts of his showing you the stats and earnings.

Niche
If you are a gardening blogger, don’t ask an entertainment blogger about ways that he used to get his traffic. This is rather silly. Don’t ever benchmark your blog with someone who has a better stats but is in a different niche than yours. Blogs covering different niches will have different plateau so it is unnecessary to make a blog from another niche to be benchmarked against yours. The ways used might be different from the supposed way that you should use.

Background
A blogger’s background is very vital. If you want to ask about search engine optimization, don’t ask me because I am working on this skill after winning the SEO Book from Kenneth. Ask people who are already meeting success related to what you want to ask. If a blogger is on a free host like Blogger, don’t ask him ways to backup your Wordpress database. A good person might tell you the truth that he have no idea about it but someone evil might teach you the wrong way!

Your Level

Boy and Girl Comparing Height

What is your level of understanding about the particular field? With all the jargons (technical words), will the explanation be made to you clearly? Will your tutor gets frustrated with you? Don’t be shy, just say thanks and leave if you think the continuous explanation won’t do you any good but confusing you more. Seeking explanation from peers for explanations and tutoring is essential as well. They will be more willing to help since they are in the same category as you.

Do you think you need help regarding your blog? Will you ask questions to improve your blog and bring it to another stage or you will wait for the answer to come to you? Tall Looking At Short

I know many bloggers will prefer a higher traffic, higher number of backlinks and a higher number of RSS subscribers. Blogs teaching you on how to make your blog getting these elements in place will get a lot of traffic because of people wanting to know the methods that can make their traffic, backlinks and RSS subscribers go higher.

I received an interesting e-mail from Gregan, which is my reader who have the following message for me.

E-mail

I noticed blogs nowadays are always aiming for the increase of their blog traffic, linkbacks and RSS subscribers. Why can’t they ditch it aside and start blogging on a much smaller blog?

The straightforward answer for this will be when most people put their opinions on a blog, they expect their contents to be read and not being left out in the cold. An equation that has been highlighted for some will be Traffic=Money.

I will offer you with something different today if you find yourself struggling to raise all the important elements (traffic and linkbacks) for your blog. I will give you the benefits of having a small blog.

  • Little Pressure
You will have lesser need to produce articles with a consistent level of quality and when your blog traffic gone down by a bit. Blog marketing might not even exist in your blogging routine. When you have a small blog and you want it to be maintained this way, you will not need to sweat yourself in investigating what types or strategies suit you and sometimes what are the causes of a dip in traffic.
  • Personal Link With Readers
When your reader base is small, you will have more time to answer e-mails from your readers, take an extra approach in helping and understanding their needs regarding your niche. The personal link or touch with your readers will allow you to network indirectly and at the same time make yourself a small community which you are in authority.
  • Readers Engagement
When your readers know that your blog is small and you will have time for them, they tend to engage with you on what you are highlighting in your articles. Debates and suggestions will always be voiced through your comment section or e-mails. They will be more daring to make everything straight to the point because they will see you as a friend that is approachable rather than a superstar who have tonnes of followers.
  • Enjoyable

    Relaxing

I can tell you that a small blog is easier to manage and of course, lesser work will be needed to maintain them. You don’t need to make yourself a tight schedule to follow, you don’t need to force yourself to read blogging guides such as those on Wayne Liew Dot Com because you are not aiming to go big. A small reader base which might come to your blog through search engines or comments you made on similar blogs will make you happy enough.

  • Easier Persuasion
With a small reader base, you will know your readers well, know what they want and know what will be their response to certain things. These make your job easier when you want to persuade them to do something for you. It might be a simple tip for your efforts, a donation, a sign up as your referrals or even a badge being placed in their respective blogs.
  • No Search Engine Worries

    Various Search Engines

Do you have to wake up everyday thinking of what will happen to your Google Page Rank or what will be the latest news on search engines keywords? No! This is because you know that your readers will be here because of you and you are not aiming for those search engines traffic because you are satisfied with a small reader base. You don’t necessarily have to indulge yourself in webmasters’ technical knowledge to maintain a small blog.

  • Simplified Money Making Methods
If you aim to have a small blog, there will be only three ways of monetizing your blog – affiliate marketing, selling your own products and paid posts writing. You will not need to have considerations before placing an ad panel because more of the advertising platform out there want one thing, TRAFFIC, which you don’t have.

    Lots of Money

Some paid post platforms like PayU2Blog can give you $5 opportunities without looking at your Google Page Rank and traffic. Some cheap opportunities in PeePeePee will not take all these elements into account as well so yo can earn with paid posts.

As I said about authority and persuasion within your small community, you can actually try selling products or sell by not selling to your readers. They trust you because you have been their friends. I am not saying that you can cheat them but it is much more easier to sell them something if they see you as a nice friend.

Is A Small Blog Really That Good?
I would say that it depends. You can’t deny that traffic and backlinks are the most important measurement of a blog. This is why people are crazy over it. Money=Traffic, this is also the reason why people are going nuts about getting traffic.

A small blog, with the advantages above will certainly divide you into another world of blogging. You will not see blogging as a business but rather, as a platform for you to share things and connect with people sharing the same interests as yours.

Will you still aim for a blog with tonnes of readers or you are satisfied of your traffic after reading my post? What other advantages of a small blog that you can think of? Tell me your views and those difficult path that you have taken to increase your blog traffic.

Catchy titles are always recommended to attract attention of your readers. The article with the most attractive title on this blog will be My Traffic Is Gone! My Blog Is Dying!. People will feel like clicking on the link if you have a catchy title.

Digg Effect

Many people have this creativity to produce an attractive and interesting title to sabotage social media or to get attention for their articles. However, you must make sure that your title is not way too catchy to the extent that it does not match your content any more.

What will happen if your title is too catchy and your articles just don’t match it? Can’t think of it? Let me tell you.

  • High First Time, No Return Visits
If you have the routine to market every posts of yours, an over-catchy title will surely bring you a lot of traffic but most of them will be passing traffic, which means they will come and go. These readers might return, but the chances are low. This is because your title “tricked” them into your site which offers something way below their expectations.
  • Sarcastic and Negative Comments

    Negative Digg Comment

Try browsing through the comments section of the front page of Digg. If you read them one-by-one or you have had a Digg effect before, you will know how aggressive and stern the users of social media are. They come, they don’t like it and a thumbs down will be shown right in front of you. Don’t trick them, the consequences are really bad.

  • Decreased Subscriber Base
Your readers subscribe to you because of your contents, not because you have all the catchy words in your title that makes their readers look good. Some subscribers have over 100 titles in their feed reader a day, appealing for their attention. If your posts is chosen because of the catchy title and what you actually offer is crap, you deserved it if your blog gets unsubscribed from the reader.

Are these consequences bad enough for you to focus on what I will be writing after this about how you can overcome over-creativeness of post titles? Let’s move on then.

  • Content First, Title Follows
When you want to write an article and thought of using a catchy title, write the article first although the title bar appears first in your blog post editor. When you write an article, you tend to think about the points and at the same time read it over and over again. This process will remind you what you are writing of and what is the keywords most commonly used. Writing the catchy title first might make you go completely off-tangent with what you are writing in your contents.
  • Repeat the Title by Mouth

    Mouth With Microphone

After you have write out the attractive title, read it a few times by mouth. Do you find it odd? Do you find your tongue got stuck? If it is not, then post it. The reason for this last check is for you to make sure that the title is attractive enough but at the same time, it is relevant and makes sense.

  • Keywords in Title
It is always important for your keywords which are related to your articles to appear in your title. This reaps benefits for you, search engine optimization-wise and readers’ usability-wise. Also, having keywords in your title will not make your title goes too irrelevant with what you plan to write.

I hope all the above simple guides will help you out in planning your next article with a catchy title. Have you tried using a catchy title for your articles before? Mind to share the permalink of the articles? What have you done before a catchy title is being written as the title of your article? Do you have something to say about my tips above?
